搭載螢幕下 Face ID 的 iPhone 傳聞年年有，但果粉也幾乎年年期望落空。最新傳聞顯示，今年下半年 iPhone 14 Pro 機型應該不太可能如傳言所稱，將搭載螢幕下 Face ID 功能，因此期待螢幕下 Face ID 功能 iPhone 的果粉，荷包可以再省一年了。
稍早調研機構 DSCC 執行長 Ross Young 在 Twitter 指出，蘋果 iPhone 14 Pro 與 Pro Max 機款螢幕採用挖孔前置鏡頭設計，且呈現方式會是小圓孔搭配膠囊藥丸形洞，雙孔都不是隱形設計。

膠囊狀洞至少可容納 iPhone 前置鏡頭，以及 Face ID 用的紅外線臉部偵測鏡頭；意味今年 iPhone 14 Pro 將不會採用螢幕下 Face ID 設計。
Ross Young 也在下方補充，iPhone 紅外線臉部偵測鏡頭最快要等到 2023 年或 2024 年才會移到螢幕下方；顯示蘋果推出 iPhone 15 Pro 或 iPhone 16 Pro 前，都不會看到搭載螢幕下 Face ID 功能的 iPhone。

中資天風證券知名分析師郭明錤先前指出，蘋果會在 2023 年時才將 Face ID 移至螢幕下方。
