八萬年一遇，捕捉紫金山─阿特拉斯彗星現身瞬間

2023 年由中國紫金山天文台和南非觀測站，共同發現的彗星「紫金山─阿特拉斯」（C/2023 A3）9 月底抵達近日點。抬起頭，你就可能用肉眼看見，這輩子看過最亮的彗星，也讓全球掀起一股觀彗星熱潮。

NASA說法，紫金山─阿特拉斯彗星是有紀錄以來首次飛過地球。由於軌道週期長達八萬年，可能上次看到紫金山─阿特拉斯彗星的人，是舊石器時代的史前人類尼安德塔人（Neanderthals）。

台北市立天文館預估，10月20日前彗星亮度仍為四等以上，只要天氣好，或許抬頭就能幸運捕捉到彗星身影。

準備使用望遠鏡，大開眼界了嗎？

《EarthSky》報導，太陽下山後可眺望西方天空，就能捕捉到這千載難逢的景象。夜空的紫金山─阿特拉斯彗星就像明亮火球，拖著長長的尾巴。

雖然彗星肉眼可見，但NASA馬歇爾太空飛行中心主任比爾庫克（Bill Cooke）建議想觀星的人用上最好的裝備觀星。

它不會像流星劃過天空。看起來更像掛在天空，每天晚上緩緩移動。如果能用肉眼看到這顆彗星，快用雙筒望遠鏡，會讓你大開眼界。

一起看彗星，請不要說不

紫金山─阿特拉斯彗星來自歐特雲（Oort cloud），為圍繞太陽、由冰微行星組成的球體雲團。科學家一開始很懷疑，這顆由冰和冷凍氣體（Frozen gases）、岩石組成的彗星，能否在太陽系之旅後存活，「但很幸運的，紫金山─阿特拉斯彗星不只順利通過，甚至完好無損。」美國天文學家泰迪卡雷塔（Teddy Kareta）表示。

即便每隔幾年，都會有幾顆彗星能勉強用肉眼看到，但真正能清楚看見的彗星非常罕見。如果能看就去看，且帶著任何能同行的人，讓他們也親身感受。
