微軟 18 日宣布，計劃 2026 年初啟用號稱「全球最強大」的 AI 資料中心，名為 Fairwater，該設施位於美國威斯康辛州，專為 AI 訓練與大規模模型運行而建。
Fairwater 占地 315 英畝，由三棟建築組成，使得總面積達到 120 萬平方英尺，可容納數十萬顆 NVIDIA GB200 與 GB300 GPU。微軟執行長 Satya Nadella 在社群平台 X 上表示，這些 GPU 將透過總長足以繞地球 4.5 圈的光纖相互連接，提供比當今最快超級電腦 10 倍的效能。

雖然未透露確切的 GPU 數量與預期耗電量，但微軟表示，Fairwater 採用封閉循環水冷系統，使該設計能達到「零水資源浪費」，所有冷卻水僅在建造時供應一次。該公司也強調，這是全球第二大的水冷式製冷廠。
具體運作方式是熱水將送至 Fairwater 四側的散熱鰭片，經過 172 個 20 英尺高的大型風扇冷卻後再送回，再循環回流為 GPU 持續降溫。其餘 10% 伺服器採用傳統外部空氣冷卻，僅在最炎熱的日子才切換至水冷。
微軟總裁 Brad Smith 在另一篇部落格文章中強調，微軟深知全球的能源價格正在上漲，因此致力於確保資料中心不會推高鄰近社區的能源成本，並承諾凡是公司消耗的化石燃料發電的每一度電，都將以等量的零碳能源回饋電網。
除了這座設施外， Smith 也提到微軟承諾在未來三年內再投入 40 億美元，建造規模相似的第二個資料中心，這將使在威斯康辛州的總投資超過 70 億美元。
